Happy Christmas!

To the say the last couple of weeks has been hectic is an understatement, but we are now in our new house!!! Despite still being surrounded by boxes and snowed under with work, I am excited to have my very own design studio in our spare bedroom… best Christmas present ever to finally be in our own house in Ilkley near where I grew up. We don’t have internet until end Jan so whilst I’m in a cafe on wifi I wish you HAPPY CHRISTMAS, and hope it’s full of handmade goodness.

Baby booties for sale!

Well, I’ve done it… Plucked up the courage to list my baby booties, and the stock that I currently have is now officially for sale on Folksy and a few on Etsy! I know it’s taken me a while but I was hoping for more of my feedback forms to have been sent back by now, but based on the feedback so far this is my new range in time for Christmas. Please feel free to contact me if there are any custom requests (already had a fab request for elf shoes.) I’m happy to make to specific size requirements or if you have seen a particular fabric in a different size please just message me.

As I can’t use the sewing machine until my hip is much better I’m off to do some sewing and planning the next sewn challenges. Have a great weekend, especially if you are at any Christmas markets/fairs.

Good elf

It’s certainly been a difficult couple of weeks and I’m in a lot of pain but on the slow road to recovery! I won’t bore you with the details but I had a major op on my hip, which although took longer than expected and presented some challenges, was a success. Unfortunately there were some complications and my blood didn’t clot so I ended up bleeding out of my wound and having a blood and platelet transfusion. All that done, and over a week later I’m out of hospital and back in the comfort of my own home. Apart from the immense pain the most frustrating thing is seeing all my fabric and sewing machine staring at me and not being able to use it. Luckily I got about 10 pairs of baby booties done before going into hospital so this week they will be listed in my Folksy and Etsy shops as perfect presents with less than a month to Christmas. My favourite bit of creativity before going into hospital was making these elf shoes for a custom request so here’s to good ‘elf!

Enjoy what’s left of the weekend,

Xx

Bootie update…

My poor sewing machine isn’t sounding too well at the moment, which may well have something to do with the long overloaded evenings trying to perfect my baby booties, but there’s one last push to get the remaining trial pairs out. So far I’ve got about half my free pairs in the post, and have already started receiving photos and feedback, above are a few of my faves from the last week with some fab fabrics from fabric rehab and my fabric house which are my 2 current fave online fabric suppliers. It’s great to know that my products are being tested to their limit before I launch them and I will know with confidence that they are as good as I can make them when they go on sale, so watch this space.

But all this sewing is hard work so bedtime now – sleep well.

Folksy Friday – December Elves

It’s been a while since I wrote a blog, but things have been so manic with work and all my creative projects on the go at the moment that I have hardly turned on the computer! I’m working on lots of exciting things including preparing for my craft fair which has now been postponed to 18th Dec due to the snow, filling my sketchbook for the sketchbook project that needs posting in less than a month (!) and of course continuing to make new items for my folksy shop, some of my faves being my new Christmas decorations, santa bag and desktop calendar. So, I think I have surprised even myself by deciding to join in with the December listing club on Folksy this month by listing an items every day.  I am in good company though, and here are some of my favourite hats to wrap up warm in for Christmas from fellow elves:

Hats and more – hand crochet hat (how cosy does that look!)

Nofkants curios – santa hat scarf (this just made me smile, which I needed today)

Imogen’s imagination – grey wool beret (my new fave hat style is the beret which I never really wore until a friend bought me one and now I can’t get enough)

Uniquely yours – cafetiere cosy (a hat for your cafetiere, or maybe more a scarf but everything needs a hat)

But time for bed now, a long weekend of crafting for my fair ahead.

Showcase Sunday – Granny Ruth’s

It’s been a while since I last wrote my blog but things have been so manic at work and teamed with the commuting I feel like I’ve had no time to myself! I’m taking a break from the work I’ve had to bring home for a meeting tomorrow to showcase this amazing Folksy shop from Granny Ruth. Check it out for some amazing felt products, and start thinking about those Christmas decorations – here are some of my fave!

October Folkfest – Day 18

It was definitely one of THOSE Monday morning’s today! Went to the hospital with Dan, and after waiting for aaaaages to be seen he didn’t have a good reaction to a blood test, so I worked from home to make sure he did as he was told and rested. Then everything seemed to be going wrong on site, which it usually does just before handover. Despite the bad start to the day I did manage to list 2 cards, the first was Lilly’s snow card and the second a relisted new arrival card. I just want today to be over so another quick post from me tonight then I can sleep and wake up to a new day, with my picks chosen on ‘a new day’ theme:

Strawberry anarchy – Button vial necklace (hopefully I will wake up tomorrow as bright as a button)

Making space – Gold plated spacer beads (I could do with a pot of gold right now)

Mud meddling – Three little pigs (I’ve had a pig of a day but one of these little fellows would cheer me up)

Laura’s little lovelies – Dream and inspire earrings (I dream of finding inspiration, maybe these gorgeous earrings are the answer)

Sleep well

October Folkfest – Day 17

Hope everyone’s had a good weekend. We had a fab time being tourists in London, despite living here, I treated Dan to a couple of nights in a posh hotel which was great as we didn’t have a long journey to get there on Fri night, and we came home this afternoon after we’d had enough. It felt like a much needed break and we had a fun time, the downside being that it wasn’t long enough and I’ve now got the holiday blues and not looking forward to another week of getting up earl.

Although I did manage to list my Bessie Christmas card yesterday, and Dot today, Saturday was the first day I haven’t blogged this month. Don’t worry I’m back on track now with some of my fave picks inspired by London:

The little bead box – Copper chain (this reminds me of the London Dungeon)

Josie Mary – Crochet heart brooch (it was great to spend a romantic weekend with my boyfriend)

Bead cornucopia – Crystal bicone (London is so colourful, in every sense of the word, and I love it as a tourist)

That’s it from me this weekend, have a good week.

Fab Folkfest Folksy Friday

A quick one from me today as I’m not around this weekend so attempting to do a short post whilst I have wifi, even if very slow and only half an hour free. It’s all the F’s today including my Freddie Christmas card, so that’s my theme for today’s top picks:

Sprinkles – Four snowFlake wine charms (these are very Festive and Funky)

Facets – Floral bookmark (I need to dedicate more time to getting lost in books, and Fantastic imaginary worlds)

If I don’t get chance to blog again this weekend then have a good one, but hopefully I’ll get a bit of time and wifi tomorrow.
