Folksy Friday – Sailing by

As I’ve added some exciting new products to my shops including cot quilts and cushion covers by my mother-in-law my mind is over-flowing with ideas! This week’s Folksy new listing features this bright and cheery boat which will sail into any room to cheer it, and the owner up… if you haven’t guessed it yet this week’s theme is boats:

Buttons and stars – trio of driftwood boats (these are so cute, and remind me of days by the sea)

Kirsty Elson designs – boat collage greeting card (this is so clever)

The crafty little cottage – three little boats cushion (this is adorable, especially like the bunting too)

Gillian Bates – fishing boat post card (you know my love of textiles, and this completely captures the essence of the seaside, not to mention becoming one of my new fave shops!!)

Dark peak crafts – Mull fishing boats linocut print (the simplicity of this is lovely)

Off to finish sewing my latest cushion cover!

Sunny Folksy Friday

No-one can deny that it is freezing in the UK at the moment, admittedly it’s not -40 but more than cold enough for me, especially as I’m not able to move round much, my bones don’t like the cold and my poor circulation with my diabetes doesn’t help. As I sit here on the sofa in my many layers, covered in blankets and snuggled up to the hot water bottle I am dreaming of this time next week when we will be preparing to head to Florida and the sunshine. So, what better to do than pick my fave sunny and bright Folksy finds:

Lilley’s – Yellow ninja keyring (this cheery ninja makes me smile despite the cold)

Hooperhart - Yellow rossette (This looks like a happy sunshine)

Jessie G – Tapestry cushion cover (Absolutely love these colours, and Jess gave us an amazing cushion with a similar pattern for our wedding which is brightens up our flat every day)

Laura Potter ceramics - Sunny yellow ceramic buttons (These would brighten up any outfit… I’m thinking one of my coats)

Lydia Crook - You are my sunshine card (love the simplicity of this cheery card)

The rainbow room - Hanging felt hearts (where there’s a rainbow there’s sunshine)

My own new makes this week have been quite sunny too, they’re currently in my etsy shop, but I’m working on new designs for my Folksy shop.

Have a fab weekend,

Xx

#Blogboost 27 – Folksy Friday

Well apart from it being Friday, it’s a special Folksy Friday today as I’m also using it to do my Folksy Finds Handmade Love. All of today’s picks are chosen with the theme ‘made for you’ as I love my husband to bits and in our first year of marriage I always try to make an effort and create him things that are personal to both of us, especially after his Folksy proposal! As it’s a leap year today’s picks are all wedding and engagement related as I wonder how many ladies will take this opportunity to propose:

Made with Love x – Personalised notebook (these notebooks have played such a big part in our life and engagement that it’s at the top of the list)

Old black hen vintage – Floral and lace wedding book (this could make a great guest book but in my opinion an even better wedding planning book, why not use it to think up some proposal ideas ladies?!)

The leaf press – Personalised wedding journal (every bride needs a wedding book, mine was actually the proposal and is bursting at the seams now)

Joy Nevada - Personalised salt and pepper shakers (I can just imagine the proposal – will you pass the salt please darling…)

xx Bags of love - Shabby chic personalised engagement picture (After my own engagement I would encourage anybody to use handmade items in their proposal, and you can keep it forever)

Ink and stylus - The dressing room (this is such a gorgeous and romantic style of illustration)

Zygotegifts – Valentines card (Although unfortunately some of our hearts were misplaced on the day we had some of the 30 newspaper hearts hanging from our pom poms, and BB even made it to our wedding to see them for herself)

Morning Mr Magpie - Cutout heart necklace (This is beautiful and similar to the necklace I commissioned Sal to make to match my bridal earrings)

Artisan silver – Valentines silver necklace (Traceyann made all of my bridesmaids necklaces and personalised them)

Dottie designs - Personalised guest book (If I hadn’t made a message tree canvas for our ‘guest book’ I would have def got a book from Dottie)

Quernus crafts - Love mouse couple (These are too cute for words, they look like a couple who are announcing their engagement!)

Beadazzle designs – Wedding kiss guest book (Love the fun nature of this, and the fact that no 2 are the same)

Imogen’s Imagination - Ivory small fascinator (Sophie made all mine and my bridesmaids’ hats and fascinators, and this one was worn at my hen do)

Atelier 22 - Wedding/engagement card (Love screen printing and the vibrancy of this is perfect for anybody)

Geneva silver – Eco Bridal Bouquet (I made felt flowers for our wedding but these paper ones are fab)

Wall envy art – Personalised wedding vintage book page (Beautiful personalised momento)

By Poppy with love – ‘I DO’print (Beautifully simple, and reminds me of my own ‘I do’ moment last year)

Artyadz - The best is yet to come print (This one’s for my fantastic husband, we’ve had such much bad luck in our first year of marriage but I truly believe the best is yet to come!)

I’m off to reminisce and look at our wedding photos now :)

#Blogboost 20 – Folksy Friday

I’m somehow managing to keep up with my blogboost challenge this month but thought it was time to feature Folksy as Luulla has been taking the spotlight so far! As I’m definitely feeling blue at the moment that has to be today’s theme for my first folksy Friday in a while:

Handmade by Anna Cole – Stripey blue heart (Love the fabric combination here, and it is nearly Valentines Day)

Purrfect Designs – Blue Cat (how can he not make you smile?)

Lou Tonkin Artist – Blue Tit (You will all know my love of textiles by now and this really is beautiful)

Gemma Austen Art – Blue characters (I get completely engrossed in this, and means I can ‘lose myself’ for a bit)

Elephant Blossom Glass – Blue tweets (these are so adorable)

Hannah Madden – Blue Swans (Block printing has to be one of my fave techniques and again this is gorgeous for Valentines Day)

Ok, no time to feel sorry for myself must get some fabric out – might be time for a blue hat!

Have a great weekend

Folksy Friday – home from home

A quick Folksy Friday from me today as things are manic at work and stressful in general at the moment. I’m looking forward to going home after work tonight and having a relaxed and fun weekend as my mother in law is visiting and there are some creative plans in the pipeline. Married life is a bit stressful to say the least at the moment and one of the biggest issues at the moment is the battle we are having with our landlord, and to be honest we can’t wait to move – the problem being finding somewhere to move to! So today’s theme for today’s fave picks from fellow Folksy sellers is home which also inspired my latest Folksy listing; no matter where we’re living we are newlyweds and living with each other (that doesn’t stop us dreaming of our perfect home tho!)

Little black heart – Up my street illustration (this is definitely up my street and reminds me of my latest ‘style’ for my sketchbook project 2012 – watch this space over the weekend for more info)

Dollydoo – Funky house cushion (love the bright colours on this, and it would definitely make our dreary flat cheery)

Maggie B Crafts – House collage (in contrast to the bright colours of Dollydoo this would be very calming, again something we could do with at the moment)

Flossy teacake – Fruit and veg shop mono print (ok, so this isn’t strictly a home but it’s so cute and I dream of living in the countryside again one day)

Frillybee – Little house (this is adorable, and you should know about my love of sewing by now)

Time to get back to the mountain of work now.

Have a good weekend.

Baby Folksy Friday

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to blog about things other than handmade wedding-ness so today I’m taking the opportunity to do a quick Folksy Friday. Most of you who read my blog will know that if I haven’t got at least one creative project on the go in my spare time then there is something wrong. To get over coming back down to earth with a large bump on return from our honeymoon there was only one thing for it – to throw myself into a new challenge by attempting to make some baby booties. Don’t ask me why I chose this as I honestly don’t know and have never made them or any type of clothing before in my life, maybe it was my love of fabrics and amazing purchases in Malaysia (including some batik pens… can you guess what the next project will be??) or maybe it was getting married and everyone asking about starting a family. Whatever the reason I had so much fun experimenting with fabric and making 2 pairs of baby booties on a Saturday afternoon when very jetlagged aso watch this space for more on this. If you can’t guess today’s topic for my Folksy Friday then read on:

Spotty Dotty – booties (these are adorable, and I admire anyone who can knit or crotchet)

Seamingly Possible – baby booties (the boldness of these is fab)

Booties by Dannie - retro trainer baby booties (great to see a unique take on baby booties)

Have a fab weekend whether that involves children, creativeness or just chilling. Any feedback or comments are always welcome.

Folksy Friday – Hens

As it’s my hen party this weekend what better topic to choose than hens and chicks for today’s Folksy Friday:

Konnie Kapow – shake a tail feather (couldn’t be more aptly named for a hen weekend!)

With hugs and kisses – baby hen shoes (these are too cute not to mention)

Court and spark – heart decoration (love the fabric and if it wasn’t for reasons of the heart I wouldn’t be having a hen weekend)

Foxglove cottage crafts – cute animal earrings (maybe I should accessorise with these at the races)

Handprinted by A Deegan – lino print Betty’s hen (this is gorgeous)

Rowanberry designs – baby jersey (again, this is very cute)

Apart from Chester races I don’t really know what the rest of the weekend will entail but can’t wait to see and celebrate with my girlie friends. Have a fab weekend whatever you have planned.

Folksy Friday postcards

This week’s Folksy Friday may sound like a random theme but there is method in the madness… it’s a bank holiday week in the UK, which reminds me of my childhood and trips out over the long weekend, teamed with my love of writing to people and the postcard I received the other morning from one of my Canadian penpals this brings me to some of my fave Folksters this week:

Cuppa tea and cake – come for tea postcard (with our mad hatters tea party wedding only 5 weeks away there had to be a mention of tea)

Monda loves - birdie postcard (love the illustration style of this)

Bumble bead shack – postcard pendant (this is very cute, and an ideal accompaniment for all travels)

Have a good weekend whatever your plans – lets hope the sun stays out for some trips!

Folksy Friday for dad

The latest listing in my Folksy shop is inspired by my sport and golf obsessed dad, who is a huge inspiration in my life. As it’s Father’s Day in less than a month (19th June in the UK) I thought I would just give a gentle reminder not to forget our fantastic dads so here are some fab folksy items which would be perfect for Father’s Day:

Indivijewels – Personalised ball marker (This is would be great personalised treat for those golf crazy dads)

Moonflame – Cricket cufflinks (my dad is a very good cricketer and avid fan so these would be perfect for him – especially with his daughter’s wedding only 7 weeks today!)

Framed up – Framed lego (perfect if you can find your dad’s team, my dad would rather have Burnley than Arsenal but I’m not entering that debate)

Two for joy paper studio – Ice cream print (my dad’s moto in life!)

Project tie the knot – Eye test tie (as my dad wears suits to work everyday this would add a sense of humour to his meetings)

Have a great weekend, especially if you’re seeing your dad.

Emergency Folksy Friday

Not only has it been the first 5 day working week for a while it felt even longer because of the many problems - mainly with  my health and immense pain in my leg/hip/back which made me faint and resulted in a night in A&E with a nice shiny bruise on my face. So given that I’m still not feeling well and the doctor suspects a trapped nerve in my back today’s Folksy Friday picks and my own listing today are around not feeling well:

Crazy Litle Mishaps – Brainz (must admit this is what I feel like at the mo!)

Alissha lissha designs – flowers (I wouldn’t say no to a bunch of flowers to cheer me up right now)

Contemporary designer jewellery – jigsaw earrings (I feel like I’m falling apart and could do with putting back together again)

Jessie G – tapestry cushion (could do with a cushion that looks this good to support my back and leg)

Pip, Pop and Pattie – Dr Macscot (now that’s a cute doctor)

Wish me luck for my long pendolino train journey to Manchester this evening and even more luck to Dan for running the 10k this Sunday for Diabetes UK.
