Sunday Showcase – Animal adventures

As the new year gets off to a creative and busy start I was glad to be asked to do a personalised baby grow for a 1st birthday this week that involved my animal sketches and something birthday themed. My initial thought was of my pet rabbits as a child as they bounced around the garden like excited children, and then I was told that the little boy in question likes Pandas so my 2 latest gocco prints emerged! I also did a third sketch which wasn’t suitable for gocco printing so I turned it into this quick and colourful illustration to add a bit of colour to an otherwise grey January, at least weather wise.

Talent Tuesday – Happy Apple Bumblebee

As regular followers may have noticed, I’m getting into the swing of drawing animals at the moment, so when I stumbled across these gorgeous animal illustrations from Happy Apple Bumblebee I just had to share them. Here are my top 3 reasons to find out more:

  • It’s not often you are able to buy originals of  such beautiful illustrations, and at such reasonable prices
  • Anyone who illustrates manatees is a winner in my book!
  • The detail and texture makes you want to reach out and touch the animals, especially the cute birds

If you haven’t visited Patrizia‘s shop on Etsy yet then please do so.

Sunday Showcase – zoo time

If anybody has been on facebook or twitter this week you may have seen my animals ambling by! My new found creative style was a bit of a happy accident, after I’d made an elephant treasury on Etsy I decided to get a biro out and start my new sketchbook with a quick sketch and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Then I thought I’d better try a few other baby animals to check it wasn’t just a fluke, and again I was surprised that this was a new quick illustration style that I like, and am now beginning to make them into cards and illusrations. I also want to try making one into a gocco print for notebooks, clothing and art prints – what do you think?
