Accidental Vix

I’ve been feeling a bit blue recently with my diabetes playing up more than usual, being fed up with the flat and my recovery regressing by about 1-2 months resulting in increased pain. When I’m feeling a bit down it’s time for something creative to distract me and cheer me up so over the past week I’ve been making some more booties with left over bits of fabric. It wasn’t intentional but my mood has clearly influenced my creative choices as they all seem to be blue, and have flowers on them – well I guess despite the weather it is nearly summer and the flowers should be bright and cheery.

Well it’s been a stressful 24 hours with my hospital appointment yesterday when I was told it would be another 4 weeks before I can weight bear and then tough physio at 8am this morning resulting in the current aches and pains. So, what do I do to combat this and stop feeling sorry for myself? Creative new ideas of course! Above are some of my new creations made with great patterns from patternpatti on etsy – bibs and burp cloths to be combined with my baby booties to make gift sets, and there are some more ideas in the pipeline so watch this space. I’d love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions for any other additions.

Well, I’ve done it… Plucked up the courage to list my baby booties, and the stock that I currently have is now officially for sale on Folksy and a few on Etsy! I know it’s taken me a while but I was hoping for more of my feedback forms to have been sent back by now, but based on the feedback so far this is my new range in time for Christmas. Please feel free to contact me if there are any custom requests (already had a fab request for elf shoes.) I’m happy to make to specific size requirements or if you have seen a particular fabric in a different size please just message me.

As I can’t use the sewing machine until my hip is much better I’m off to do some sewing and planning the next sewn challenges. Have a great weekend, especially if you are at any Christmas markets/fairs.

My poor sewing machine isn’t sounding too well at the moment, which may well have something to do with the long overloaded evenings trying to perfect my baby booties, but there’s one last push to get the remaining trial pairs out. So far I’ve got about half my free pairs in the post, and have already started receiving photos and feedback, above are a few of my faves from the last week with some fab fabrics from fabric rehab and my fabric house which are my 2 current fave online fabric suppliers. It’s great to know that my products are being tested to their limit before I launch them and I will know with confidence that they are as good as I can make them when they go on sale, so watch this space.

But all this sewing is hard work so bedtime now – sleep well.
