2012

Life has been fairly tough in recent months so it doesn’t take much to change my mood. When I say that my luck might be changing because of a roof slate you might think I’m mad but after a looooong run of what feels like never ending bad luck you might understand where I’m coming from. Yes, I think my luck might just be improving after years because 1) the roof slate that fell into our garden and did NOT hit me – my friends and family who know me as ‘the Vicky that everything happens to’ will see this as a miracle! 2) it has a perfect hole in it to allow it to be hung and used as a readymade chalkboard!
Off to buy a lottery ticket now…

Yay, I am so happy and relieved to have finally finished my sketchbookproject 2012! I must admit it didn’t take me long after sending off last years to forget how stressful and hard it is to work to a deadline for something that will be viewed by others and tour 3 continents this time. This is the first 32 page ‘picture book’ I have done as a continuous story, but generally I’m pleased with what I’ve achieved, especially given the trauma of the past couple of months. There are a few pages which I rushed for the sake of finishing and I’m not too happy with but as I keep telling my husband perfection doesn’t exist. Here are a few more pages to keep you going until the grand reveal of the finished story…

Nothing like looking through the Luulla shops to make me smile, so no surprise that I couldn’t wait to find more of my fave seller to feature. Although, jewellery had to be one of the hardest to choose from as not only are there so many in this category but I found so many that I liked, after some time I narrowed it down to these 3:
HuiyiTan – snowflake earrings (given the current weather, there’s no doubting it’s winter but these earrings would brighten up any day)
Kaori Kaori – Ruby red vintage glass earrings (I love the simplicity of these, and they remind me of my dear friend Jane)
Maria Goti – Sterling silver butterfly earrings (these are just beautiful, and def on my wishlist)
Time now to go and finish scanning in my sketchbook project, so watch this space!

Let’s start with Happy New Year! New year, new aspirations and new challenges lie ahead so here’s my first adventure (notice it’s not a ‘resolution’) to write the equivalent of one blog each day in January inspired by a tweet about #blogboost from Creativesque. Admittedly I’ve missed the first 2 days so will have to catch up, but it’s been a not-so-easy start to the year with getting ill on New Years Eve and then the long battle to get back to London from Yorkshire on crutches yesterday but now I’m back there’s no excuses.
I guess it’s customary to think at this time of year about new business adventures and what you want from the year ahead but one step at a time for me. The first thing on my January ‘to-do-list’ is to get more views and sales to my folksy, etsy and luulla shops (more about Luulla later this week.) In order to do that I need to start thinking about making enough stock for all 3 shops, and there are plenty of ideas spinning through my head, but the first is to think about adult slippers as an addition my baby booties. Here is my first festive adult pair of elf shoes for my sister-in-law this Christmas following on from a custom request for baby elf shoes, but don’t worry there will be some more mainstream designs on the way so watch this space!
