October Folkfest – Day 26

I’m hoping the week gets quicker after a slow start but as I’m on site in Bristol tomorrow it should speed things up a bit, and we’ve got guests this weekend which I’m looking forward to. It’s an early start tomorrow so another quick blog tonight before washing  up and bed! I don’t like getting up in the mornings, especially when it’s dark, so I’m glad in the mad rush this morning I managed to list a new card featuring Bertie and Margot. Today’s folkfest picks are chosen with ‘mornings’ in mind:

Lonely hearts – swallow earrings (I long for spring and summer days, waking up to the tweeting birds rather than the sound of rain)

Damselfly Gemma – fuschia earrings (half of my dilemma’s in a morning consist of choosing which earrings to wear)

Better go and wash up now, then try and get some sleep.

October Folkfest – Day 21

Handover has been and gone, or not as the case may be… does anybody else have projects that just don’t ever seem to end and neither do the problems? Having said that the shop (and shopping centre) opens a week today so there’s no choice but to finish soon! Ok, mini rant over, hope everyone else has had a good day. Although mine didn’t get off to a great start I was leaving site this afternoon and spotted these 3 doors that I have to walk past everytime I go down the corridors and they made me smile, as if they’re made for mummy, daddy and baby bear! This fits in well with my new arrival card today, and brings me onto today’s folkfester topic – family:

Made by dolly – Christmas bunny (our first family pet was a cute rabbit the same colour called Judy, joined a week later by Fudge)

Laura’s jewellery – Teapot and teacup necklace (my family go out for tea/coffee in Ilkley every Saturday morning, and we join them when back in Yorkshire one of my fave places and family traditions)

Dottie designs – Boy’s robot keepsake box (my brother would have loved this to rival my diary when we were younger)

Noodlebubble – Heart brooch (just because I love my family)

Time for bed again already, sleep well.

October Folkfest – Day 20

I’m going to feature a few more folkfesters today to make up for not being able to blog yesterday. Although I was very tired this morning after a late night I was very proud to see Dan Djing at the Redbull competition last night! Today’s item from me is a relisting of my snowbear illustration which is the one that I am probably most proud of. So, if you’ve not guessed it yet today’s topic is things to be proud of:

Funky Cinderella – Felt flower brooch (I’m proud to be a designer, but working with fashion clients I do constantly feel the need to wear things which aren’t traditional high street, this brooch would be the perfect accessory to go with many more already bought from fellow Folksters)

Floral gifts 4 u – Holly sock posy (I’m proud to have an amazing boyfriend who often surprises me with flowers, this would be even better as it would keep my cold feet warm)

Nofkants Curios – Poppy hat and mittens (I’m proud of my every growing hat collection, even if most of them are children’s sizes, but Natalie’s hats fit my small head)

Dab and dash – Jam jar notebook (I’m proud of my sketchbook which goes everywhere with me, and this would be fantastic as my next one)

Lou Lou’s Luxuries – Nest egg jewellery set (I’m proud to be a Yorkshire lass from the gorgeous Bronte Country, and miss the wildlife and country lifestyle)

Ann Chandler originals -  Evening bag (most girls are proud of their bag collections)

Indira albert – Scooters print (I’m proud to be part of the handmade community, and such talent as this fellow folkfester)

That’s it from me tonight after another disastrous day at work (hopefully the last bad day for a while) I need to go to bed. Sleep well

July Jesters – Day 8

I decided to have a change from my anonymity range today with a listing dedicated to all my fellow Jesters, and I am pleased to say that I have sold and posted one Jester Jeff to Natalie already, which has taken my Folksy sales tally into double figures!  Now all I have to do is try and come up with some designs for the April Foolers, May Mayhemmers and June Loons (any suggestions welcome.)

I’m working from home today, so thought I’d make the most of my lunchtime and the peace and quiet by doing my blog as we are going to see a Jessse Malin gig tonight, having his music on in the background is helping me with my detailed drawing pack. :) I think that sentence has just given me my theme for the day – music (which was also an illustrapedia topic I illustrated for):

Jessica’s jotters – Treble clef jotter (This is so pretty, I’m always looking for new sketchbooks)

Kokokelli – Black/white bracelet (the black and white reminds me of the hours of piano practice on those black and white keys I used to do – and there was a sale from this shop to a music related celebrity!)

Pins and needles – Green ipod cover (can’t mention music these days without an ipod making an appearance, and what an appearance it would make in this stunning green cover)

Gifts shack – Monkey badges (I used to get stars in my book if I did well in my piano lessons, but I’d have much preferred a cheeky monkey badge if I didn’t do well)

Short but sweet today as lots of drawings still to do going to Islington.

July Jesters – Day 7

Before I start talking about my day and my Folksy choices I want to say that my thoughts go out to all those effected by the July 7th bombings in London – it could have happened to anyone, including me as I traveled on a packed out tube at rush hour this morning.

On a lighter note, I got up this morning to a cool breeze and rain clouds overhead, which is quite apt for today’s under the weather card. Feeling a bit low still so the  gorgeous sea glass and silver necklace (above) from Blue Box Studio as part of the Folsky swap was a fantastic surprise waiting for me at home.  I do feel a little guilty that I only sent out 3 cards to my swap, organised by Amie Rose Designs, here’s hoping she isn’t too disheartened and sees the amount of work that’s gone into them! As I also got a little bag of sea glass I thought glass would be a perfect theme for my choices today:

Beadesk – Red and white handbag charm (these glass beads are gorgeous, and as the world cup’s on in the background a bit of red and white is good too – yes I do know we’re out already)

Lazy giraffe – Mojito earrings (Mmmm Mojito, and some gorgeous green glass too)

Buttons and beads gifts – Glass charms (now this is the type of glass I wouldn’t mind holding right now)

Diomo glass – White rose sun catcher (can’t have glass as a topic without featuring Diomo, and a white rose for a Yorkshire lass too)

Kirsty’s creations – Touch of the sea set (Sea, and glass – very tranquil)

Vintage dreams – Corset glitter bags (I can’t keep away from the vintage – it does have german glass glitter on it I promise)

Emma’s made me – All white (So many gorgeous glass beads on here, and I love a good colour theme – hmmm another potential topic?)

Have a good evening, time for me to go and make some new items to list over the next few days (wish me luck!)

July Jesters – Day 6

Today’s you rock card is dedicated to my boyfriend – I was having a bit of a rubbish day yesterday but the little gestures remind me that things aren’t so bad and I’ve got all the support I need, and sometimes it only takes a hug and a cheeky smile and it’s all ok again! Yesterday was yesterday and today’s a new day, which was just as hectic but at least I got out of the office for a site inspection – that’s always an experience as a minority female amongst the builders.  So my topic tonight is ‘girlie things’ to counteract the testosterone on a building site:

The little bead box – Freshwater pearls (these are so glamorous, would turn a few heads on and off building sites)

Pretty charming – Flower necklace (pretty in pink)

Top floor treasures – Tote bag (nearly as bright as my fluorescent jacket, but a lot cuter)

Clarebears – Maple bear (he could be my mascot)

Swirls and squiggles – Golden dove earrings (can’t resist a lovely bit of jewellery)

It’s going to be a long week, so time to make lunch for tomorrow then bed time…

July Jesters – Day 5

What a day… feeling a bit disheartened at the moment, so I think today’s retirement card is quite apt! We’ve done our Monday routine trip to the supermarket, had tea and now got an hour to look at creative Folksy July Jester shops to make me smile.  Today’s theme is places I’d rather be, people I’d rather be seeing, things I’d rather be wearing and songs I’d rather be singing etc…

Strawberry Anarchy – Wellington boot necklace (I’d love to go to a festival, esp. Glastonbury)

Swirlyarts – Dennis the menace gift tags (takes me back to my childhood, if only I’d appreciated how ‘easy’ things were then!)

Oldskoolretro kisch boutique – Upcycled vintage bag (anything vintage makes me smile… if only I could go back in time)

The glass mountain – Sailing boat key fob (wish we could just sail away today)

The whimsical wren – Jenny wren and the acorn (If we had a garden I’d be sat in it listening to the tweeting birds)

Time for bed now, so I can wake up to a new day…

July Jesters – Day 4

My day 4 personalised engagement card was listed a bit later today as it’s been a busy Sunday and we have just got on the train back to London where we are making the most of the wifi, and the mini picnic we have been given in first class – crisps, peanut, biscuits, OJ and water (he even left the orange juice carton in case we wanted a top up!) Once again we are delayed, but at least we weren’t on the train that set on fire at Doncaster!

As always there are so many fantastic listings today, so to narrow it down I decided to choose food as today’s theme as everyone seems to be tweeting about yummy things and it’s making me really hungry (trying to resist the chocolate biscuits!) so here are today’s top picks:

Laura’s little lovelies – Naughty but nice charm bracelet (this may be purchased very soon for my god-daughter!)

Diomo Glass – Dinky tea light coasters (I love having tea/dinner with tealights twinkling on the table)

The little bead box - Wooden beads (these remind me of an exciting bag of sweets)

Pavlova’s art loft – Altered tin, Irene (love anything that looks vintage, and could just eat my mum’s pavlova!)

Strawberry anarchy – Strawberry stud earrings (well it is the Wimbledon final today and I’m heading home to Wimbledon as we speak)

Time to go and do some sketches in prep for this week’s july jester items.

July Jesters – Day 3

Another day gone in a flash, time flies when you’re having fun as they say, and it was a bit of a rush to get my day 3 thanks teacher card listed before we left but I got back to find I’ve sold a wedding fireworks card, which is great – only need one more visit from the sales fairy to reach double figures :) After celebrating my sale the first thing I did was go on twitter to share my news with fellow #julyjesters, which led me thinking a perfect way to narrow down my July Jester picks would be to choose them from my fellow ‘tweeps’…

Ialbert – Maple seeds print (would love this if I had my own house the way I want it!)

Little red star – Jelly baby necklace (one of the first things that created conversation between me and my boyfriend was jelly babies – do you know they all have names?)

Polka dots and posies – Cupcake hand towel (This is just soooo cute)

Made with love x – Home heart (again, if I had my own house bigger than a postage stamp… )

HWR designs – Real men apron (just love it)

Buttons and beads gifts – Cluster necklace (this would have been perfect with my outfit today!)

Booties by Dannie – Flower headband (so bright and cheery you can’t help but smile)

I can just tell narrowing down my choices will get harder as the month goes on!

July Jesters – Day 2

As I’m on a train back ‘home’to my cousin’s birthday at the races (today’s Folksy listing inspiration) I thought I’d use that as today’s theme… Our train is delayed because of damage to overhead lines so I’ve got plenty of time to look through today’s items and choose a few:

Lemonade and lamingtons – Dragonfly bookmark (plenty of time on our dealyed journey to read a book)

Made by lolly - Lovebird wall art (am travelling with my boyfriend, and this is so striking I had to include it – gorgeous)

Pants and paper – Purse (would love a cute purse like this for the part refund I’ll get for my delayed train, and always good to see fellow April Foolers still listing)

Mushy… makes – Button brooch (just because it’s cute and made me smile, which is a good thing on this journey)

LondonFogg – Clock hand necklace (if only I could turn the clocks forward and be home already – this item is on my wishlist for a client meeting)

Hopefully we’ll be home soon as it’s been a loooong day!
